The Origin of Christmas
Most of the people celebrate Christmas but they really don't know that the origin of Christmas is not the birth of Jesus. They put a tree because symbolize the tree of the knowledge about good and evil. They also put lights or candles, they make some kind of food, and they interchange gifts with the family or friends. But what is the truth about the birth of Jesus? Was him born on December 25th? Who were the magician kings? Why people talk about Saint Claus if he never appear in the Holy Scriptures? We are going to answer these questions about Christmas celebration.
1) Was Jesus really born on December 25th?
Jesus didn't born on December 25th, instead in that date
pagan people celebrate the winter solstice. The pope of that time wanted to
convert pagans in Cristian people, which was the reason why he choose December
25th as the day when Jesus was born. Actually, the bible doesn't
have the date of the birth of Jesus. Instead, the bible explain that Jesus was born
when the pastors were out of the refuges for their animals, but in December Belen
has a lot of rains and snowfalls, so they couldn't be outside as the bible
said. Probably Jesus was born between September and October.
2) The "magician kings", who were they?
The bible never talk about magician kings, the bible talk about
astrologers and doesn't have information about how many were them. Also, people
usually say that they visit Jesus when he was on the manger, but that is not
true. According to the bible they visit Jesus when he was in his home.
3) It has some relation Saint Claus with Jesus?
The myth of Saint Claus started because of Saint Nicolas, actually Saint
Claus is an abbreviation of the Latin name "Sanctus Nicolaus". In
other words, Saint Claus doesn't have any relation with Jesus.
Christmas doesn’t have a Cristian
origin. When we learn all these things we realize that Christmas has a Pagan
origin because in the past some people mixed Cristian religion with Pagan celebrations.
They did it because they wanted
that Pagans became Christians.
So even if we don’t celebrate
Christmas because of the supposedly birth of Jesus, it is interesting to learn
the real story about it.
