Ireland

Ireland is a country located in Europe, next to Northern Ireland. This place is one of the richest countries in the world but Ireland was not a rich place in the past, actually was a poor place. In 1600 it was conquered by England. Ireland had around 12 million people but after the war with England they lost the half of their population. But the worst event in Ireland happened in 1745, it is called the “Ireland Famine”. The economy of Ireland is based in potatoes, but a big plague attacked the potatoes and people lost all their crops. They didn’t have nothing to eat, to sell, nothing. People who rented houses didn’t have money to pay, so they started living in the streets.
England didn’t help Ireland, they bought Ireland food, so they sent soldiers to protect the food because people was hungry and tried to stole the food. They didn’t care about hungry people, hungry kids, they mattered just the food. That is the reason why most of Irises hate England. Ireland lost 2 million more of people after that.
But with 4 million people Ireland started refurbishing the economy. They applied some laws and strict politic to do it. And they got it. Now it is a rich place. They are an independent country since 98 years. Ireland is a green place, it doesn’t have variety of vegetation or fauna but it is pretty beautiful. The weather is like Costa Rica, it keeps raining all the year. The temperatures in Ireland could be between 4 grades under zero until 30 grades. It is too cold or too hot. They have some different species too, for example the puffins. Puffin is a bird similar to a penguin. They have red foxes and red deer too.
The food is very interesting. As I said before, the economy is based in potatoes so they have a lot of recipes with that. If you love potato you have to visit Ireland. They also consume a lot of beer, they use beer to cook even a dessert!
Their costumes are interesting too. For example they celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day. Saint Patrick was a person who tried to explain Celts about the trinity, but Celts didn’t understand. So Saint Patrick took a shamrock with three leaves and said that from one stem three leaves emerge, and trinity is similar, because Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are the same person. From this moment to now, people celebrate this day and wear green clothes in honor to Saint Patrick.
