Fortuna and Arenal Volcano

La Fortuna is a little town located in San Carlos, Alajuela. Fortuna is touristic place, a lot of people go there to travel and visit different places. Actually, this place is considered more beautiful than Hawaii, so there are many reasons to spend the vacations in La Fortuna. 

Let's talk about it! 

The first reason is because Fortuna is a green place. Is not a big city but it has all the necessary things to have a pleasant stay. 

You can find supermarkets, banks, a lot of restaurants and hotels, tour companies, churches, laundries, etc. One of the most beautiful hotels in the world is located in La Fortuna, the name is Nayara. But you can find cheaper places too because it has a lot of variety.

Also you can find many activities to enjoy and fun, you can do rafting, canopy, rappel, kayak, fishing, hiking. But the main reason why people like to visit La Fortuna is because of the Arenal volcano. Arenal Volcano is an attraction because it has a conical shape and beautiful eruptions. Whether 8 years ago, Arenal Volcano doesn’t have eruptions but people who saw this hope that the volcano start erupting again. The problem with that are the towns that are closer to the volcano. In 1968 almost 90 people died because of that. It was a tragedy and nobody want that this situation happen again. In 2010 the volcano stop erupting.

But even without eruptions, this Volcano is pretty beautiful and important because thanks to the volcano we have hot springs and people love hot water. Also, people can visit the Arenal Volcano Park, this place was created in 1991 and it is a wonderful place to be closer to the volcano. In one part of the park you can be closer to the Arenal Lake, which is really beautiful too.

Next to the Arenal Volcano, there is Chato hill. Is not allow climb to hill now, but is very nice to do it. You can enjoy a wonderful view on the top of the hill and swim in a lagoon located there too.

Also you can walk to La Fortuna waterfall, you can take a cold shower in this place or go by horses instead to walk.

Fortuna has other waterfall called Pico Blanco, but this one is located in a private farm and you can go there just for air or water, not by land.

There are a lot of places to visit, if you like nature, shopping, adventure or parties, La Fortuna has everything!
