At the beginning of the class a couple from Vemsa gave us a talk about the program Work and Travel. The woman explained about the benefits of work in a foreign country and the kind of jobs that we could get. We could work as a house kipper, waiter or waitress, front desk, pool attendant, ski instructor and others. The job depends of our English level and we could choice between different places to work.
Then, Monica exposed her presentation about Tortuguero
National Park. She explained about the canals and the diverse Fauna and Flora
that we could see there.
After that we started working in the green book. First, we
worked in the pages 75 and 78. We did groups of three or four and we talked
about interesting dates of different companies. For example, the name Nestlé
comes from “little nest” or that Coca-Cola is the second word more used after
the word “Ok”. We learned that the jeans Live were jeans used for working at
first. We commented about important business in our country and what they
produced, like Dos Pinos, ICE, Pozuelo a years ago, and others.
We did pages 81 and 83. In the page 83 we read about the
problems that some companies have with their names or phrases. For example,
people thought that Gerber was made with babies because in the cover is the picture
of a baby or when Spanish speaking people listen the brand of car Chevy Nova
they thought that the car didn’t work because they understood that “Chevy no va”.
Then we read the grammar focus of the page 87, it was
about words to give a reason, for example the words because, due to, for,
because of, the reason why/that and since. We did the exercise of the same
page, and for me was a little difficult.
Then we practiced listening with the exercises of the
pages 4, 12, 34 and 46.
We learned two types of structures. One of them is “Subject
+ should + have + past participle verb + rest” and the other one is “if +
subject + had + past participle verb + rest, + subject + modal + have + past
participle verb + rest”.
At the final of the class, we listened the audios of
Johnson, David, Hazell and Ricardo talking with a native speaker. I didn’t the
conversation because some day Kenneth, Allan and I went to La Fortuna and we
didn’t find a native speaker. We just saw 2 women at first but they were busy,
and I interviewed a couple but they weren’t native speakers and my audio is
just of 5 minutes because they didn’t have time. I tried to find other person
and I asked two people who live in La Fortuna but they couldn’t during the weekend.
