At the beginning of the class we write the topics for the test. The topics are not easy, we need to learn a lot of things, vocabulary, slangs, the book A Walk to remember... etc, etc, etc. As if it were not enough, the test include an oral and a listening part. But, this is not too difficult, the problem is feel nervous when the test began, because all the things we want to say disappear, our mouth is too heavy to open and we look like statues. Anyway, when we think about the examen note that we were going to get if we keep quiet, all our fears disappear.
After to copy these horribles topics, we completed the units seven and eight, this units are part of the examen topics too. First, we talked about electronic devices or inventions that we used every day or almost every day. And we realized that the smartphone and the internet are the most important inventions. With the smartphone we can do it all lot of activities, for example we have a calculator, games, apps with the same functions of the GPS, camera, internet, and others.
We learned infinitives and gerunds for uses and purposes. When we have an infinitive we have to use the word to before, and when we have a gerund (-ing) we have to use for before.
Then, we completed a chart about technology. I learned the word "Whiz", it is a synonymous of hacker.
The unit eight was about holidays and festivals. We used clauses of time to explain some holidays. We also listen a conversation about how are the weddings in Japan, and I learned the word Shrine.
The exercise 13, "Customs Around the World" was very interesting because explain some some holidays in different countries. I liked the custom of Finland, when their cell phones didn't work, they throw them as far as possible. They wanted to express their frustration and this custom gave me a memory. When I was in school, my teacher invented a game. My schoolates and I had to shout, and the person with the highest scream won. When we were stressed because we had a test or something like that we shouted and we felt more relax.
